Jen joined La Trobe University in January 2010 to manage the Environmental Sustainability Unit. Her key responsibilities included measuring, monitoring and improving the University’s environmental performance in addition to managing the operations of the La Trobe Wildlife Sanctuary. Jen commenced her current role as Acting Senior Manager Client and Business Services in May 2016, expanding her duties to include oversight of I&O’s service desk, facilities systems and business improvements in quality, OHS and environmental management, aligning with ISO systems.
Jen has almost twenty years of experience in urban planning, project management and sustainability in Australia, the United States and Canada. Prior to joining La Trobe, Jen held land use and transportation planning positions in local and State government; project managed statutory approvals for big-box retail construction projects; and promoted the energy conservation benefits of sustainable building construction for a rural electric cooperative. She holds a Masters Degree in City Planning and a Bachelors Degree in Environmental Design from the University of Manitoba, Canada and is currently a Green Star Accredited Professional (GSAP) with the Green Building Council of Australia.
Jen has served on Boards of Directors for the American Planning Association (Minnesota Chapter), the United States Green Building Council (Minnesota Chapter), the Fair Trade Association of Australia and New Zealand, and currently serves as Treasurer on the Australasian Campuses Towards Sustainability (ACTS) Board of Directors.
