Intersect 09: Where Australian Chemistry meets Biosciences, Materials and Medicine
Intersect 09 is a scientific meeting with a particular focus on the chemical sciences comprising a ½ day workshop and a 2-day symposium designed to foster discussion and subsequent research collaboration between La Trobe University academics, government scientists and industry partners. The chemistry theme incorporates aspects of nanotechnology, biotechnology, agriscience, medicinal chemistry and physical sciences including aspects of synchrotron science, new materials and advanced analytical techniques.
The meeting recognises the need to encourage cross-disciplinary collaborations and to highlight projects where successful collaborations have resulted in new discoveries. Through the Intersect 09 meeting we seek to further enhance the range of collaborations between CSIRO and La Trobe University, to include projects and interactions with the Biosciences Research Centre (BRC) (an initiative of the Department of Primary Industries and La Trobe University), national and international corporate researchers.
A significant extra feature of the meeting will be the outreach activities to the community and students through participation by secondary school teachers and social activities coordinated by the post-graduate students.
The organising committee welcomes registrations and participation from the 8th May, 2009, including post-graduate students, secondary school teachers, professionals chemists and academics. We look forward to meeting with you all at I 09 from September 30 to October 2 2009.
