Language and Cultural Exchange Program (LACE)

Are you interested in learning more about the music, food, film, literature, festivals and traditions of another culture? Do you need to practise your English or another language? Would you like to do this in a relaxed environment and make a new friend at the same time?

The Language Exchange (LEX) program has been redesigned as the Language and Cultural Exchange (LACE) program. The aim of LACE is to bring local and international students together not only to exchange language skills, but also to share their knowledge and experiences of each other’s culture.

International Student Support Services (ISSS) can put you in contact with a student learning your native language. You practise your English skills in exchange for assisting them in learning your native language. You can also request to be matched with a student from another culture you are interested in knowing more about.

If a particular match up is not possible ISSS can suggest one you may not have considered. It is then up to you to decide how to proceed although we will gladly share ideas with you. Some people may even like to cook a traditional meal for their LACE partner!
