Banking

To open a bank account you will need to take photographic identification, including your passport. Ask about student accounts, which attract much lower account-keeping fees. Banks are generally open Monday to Thursday 9.30am-4.00pm and Friday 9.30am-5.00pm (except public holidays). The La Trobe Credit Union is open Monday to Thursday 9.00am-4.30pm and 9.00am-5.00pm on Fridays. Money may be withdrawn from Automatic Teller Machines (ATMs) 24 hours a day, and there is usually a daily limit of around $1000. It is advisable to carry with you only as much cash as needed for the next few days.

There are two banks on Bundoora campus: the Commonwealth Bank of Australia , the Bank of Melbourne (Westpac), plus the La Trobe University Credit Union and a National Australia Bank ATM.
