Outdoor Education: What Will I Study?

Each semester you take a total of 60 credit points.

Semester 1 runs from February - June.

Semester 2 runs from July - November.

Option 1:

For the full outdoor education program, including 45 days of outdoor field trips, you can take:

Semester 1
  • Outdoor Living & Travel Skills A
  • Field Experience A
  • Australian Environments
  • Ways of Knowing Nature
Semester 2
  • Naturalist Studies
  • Field Experience B
  • Worldviews & the Environment
  • Outdoor Environments

Option 2:

You can combine units offered by the Department of Outdoor Education with units in Photography, Applied Science, Psychology or even Business.

Here's a small sample of the units you can choose from:

  • Photo Journalism
  • Photo, Print and Media Theory
  • Photo, Print and Media Workshop
  • Psychology of Community Life*
Semester 2
  • Adventures in the Australian Landscape
  • Brain and Behaviour*
  • Health - Mental Health*
  • Photo, Print and Media Theory*
  • Photo, Print and Media Workshop*
  • Plant Ecology
  • Soil Science*

The above units are all worth 15 credit points, except Brain and Behaviour which is 20 credit points.
