Study Abroad
Internship subjects
Practical experience looks great on a resume, especially in another country. Enhance your study abroad experience by combining a practical placement with part of your study. Choose from the following study areas:
Media Studies and Communications Internship (MST3INT)
In this unit students will develop contacts with, and work in, a media organisation. Students will develop an understanding of issues internal to the organisation such as its goals, structure, management and work practice. In addition they will be expected to develop an understanding of the organisation's relationship to its clients, audience and other parts of the media industry.
Legal Internship (LAW4INT)
Legal Internship allows students to complete a critical piece of legal research and analysis under academic supervision based on an approved internship. The research will be conducted under the direction of an approved academic supervisor.
Counselling Psychology Internship (PSY5CIA)
This unit provides a class based introduction to the practical internships through a process of reflection on the student's developing role as a counselling psychologist. Classes focus on exploration of ethical/professional practice issues such as confidentiality, establishing relationships with clients, and working with clients at risk. Case studies are examined and practising counselling psychologists are invited to contribute.
Health Science Field Work Practicum (HCS5FWA)
This unit allows students to design and carry out a project involving field research. Students will explore issues such as the selection of subjects, procedures for data collection, analysis and interpretation of data within the context of their chosen field. Students proposing to enrol in this unit should discuss this first with their proposed supervisor.
Please note that some units may have additional requirements. Click on the unit title for the unit description or email international@latrobe.edu.au for more information.
