Australian Development Scholarships (ADS)

La Trobe University is pleased to advise that it will be accepting recipients of the Australian Development Scholarships (ADS) from Semester 1 2007.

The Australian Agency for International Development (AusAID) offers Australian Development Scholarships (ADS) to provide opportunities for individuals from selected developing countries to undertake post-secondary level study in Australia. The objective of the scholarship program is to provide AusAID sponsored students with valuable knowledge, skills and qualifications which will enable them to make a positive contribution to the development of their country.

Malaysian Australian Colombo Plan Commemoration (MACC)

The Malaysia Australia Colombo Plan Commemoration (MACC) Scholarships are offered to Australian citizens wanting to study in Malaysia, and also to Malaysian citizens wanting to study in Australia. La Trobe University is a participant in the program, and offers a tuition fee scholarship to a Malaysian student wishing to start an undergraduate degree at La Trobe University next year. The closing date at La Trobe will be 12 January 2007 for the Semester 1, 2007 intake. For further information, see the MACC website.

Department of Computer Science and Computer Engineering Scholarships

The Department of Computer Science and Computer Engineering offers a number of scholarships to outstanding overseas students currently completing Year 12 or any equivalent school leaving certificate in any school in Australia, and commencing any undergraduate degree within the Department of Computer Science and Computer Engineering.

2008 Study Melbourne Scholarships

La Trobe University is offering a range of undergraduate scholarships to high achieving students from China, North America, Europe and the United Kingdom. The Study Melbourne Scholarships are being offered in cooperation with the Victorian Department of Education and are available for international students commencing study in 2008.

Study Melbourne Scholarship recipients will be required to participate in the promotion of Melbourne/Victoria as a study destination for international students.

High Achiever Scholarships (For Vietnamese Students)

The Faculty of Science, Technology and Engineering at La Trobe University offers teaching and research in Agriculture, Animal Science, Biological Sciences, Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Psychological Sciences, Computer Science, Information Technology, and specialist courses in Electronic Engineering, Computer Systems Engineering, and Civil Engineering. The Faculty has an excellent research reputation and provides a strong theoretical and applied teaching approach based on this research. With the integration of industry-based projects in many courses, La Trobe graduates are amongst the most highly sought-after. The study experience is enhanced by our renowned support services for international students, including assistance with academic and English language skills.

High Achiever Scholarships
The Faculty of Science, Technology and Engineering offers a select number of high achiever scholarships to outstanding international students from Vietnam who wish to pursue any Bachelor degree program within the Faculty.

Value
There are two different scholarships available, one with full tuition fees paid for the duration of the course and the other is equivalent to 50% of the tuition fee for the duration of the course. Students must maintain a good academic record in every year level to retain the scholarship for the following year.

Eligibility
The scholarships are available to outstanding high school (Year 12) graduates from selected schools in Vietnam and University students currently studying in a 1st or 2nd year of an undergraduate degree program who have achieved the following English language proficiency:

  • IELTS - a minimum overall band score of 6.0 with no individual band less than 6.0 or
  • TOEFL - a minimum score of 550 with a score of 5 or better in the Test of Written English or
  • TOEFL (computer-based) - a minimum score of 233 with a score of 5 in essay writing.

How to Apply
Prospective students must submit their application for an admission to La Trobe University by 30 November 2007 for commencing their studies in February 2008.

Students must attach their year 12 results and a written Statement of Purpose to their application. Reference number FSTE-VNS 07 must be quoted on the Statement of Purpose. Scholarships will be awarded on the basis of academic merit and the written Statement of Purpose. Applications can be lodged with one of La Trobe University's authorised representatives in Vietnam or directly to:

Bendigo Accommodation Scholarships

In 2007, the Faculty of Education offered eight (8) International Accommodation Scholarships to assist international students with accommodation costs when commencing an Education, Outdoor or Environmental Education course at La Trobe University's Bendigo campus.

The total value of each scholarship was A$2,900, paid in two equal instalments, and the closing date was 31 January 2007.
