Postgraduate Coursework and Research ScholarshipsAustralian Development Scholarships (ADS)La Trobe University is pleased to advise that it will be accepting recipients of the Australian Development Scholarships (ADS) from Semester 1 2007. The Australian Agency for International Development (AusAID) offers Australian Development Scholarships (ADS) to provide opportunities for individuals from selected developing countries to undertake post-secondary level study in Australia. The objective of the scholarship program is to provide AusAID sponsored students with valuable knowledge, skills and qualifications which will enable them to make a positive contribution to the development of their country. If you are interested in applying for a scholarship funded by AusAID, you should contact the Australian Diplomatic Mission in your country of citizenship. Australian Leadership Awards (ALA)The Australian Leadership Award (ALA) is a new award under which the Australian Government offers scholarships and fellowships for current and future leaders from the Asia-Pacific Region. The ALA will provide scholarships for full-time postgraduate study at a Master's or Doctoral (PhD) level and fellowships for short-term research, study or professional attachments. The Award will bring around 3,200 scholars and fellows in the five years from 2006-2011 to study in Australia. Managed by AusAID as part of Australia's overseas aid program, ALAs will be open only to citizens of specified countries. Objectives include fostering enduring people-to-people links and building capacity. General fields of study relevant to leaders in the region include but are not limited to management, economics, business, political science, philosophy, history, law and public policy. In 2007, priority fields of study will include: trade policy and regional integration, cross-boundary challenges such as pandemics, security and clean energy. To be eligible for an ALA, students need to meet a number of criteria and must be citizens of one of the specified countries in the Asia Pacific region. Scholarships for Indonesian StudentsThe Australian Partnership Scholarships (APS) program is a joint initiative by the Australian and Indonesian governments as part of the Australia Indonesia Partnership for Reconstruction and Development. The APS program funds Indonesian students for postgraduate coursework or research studies in Australia. La Trobe University is proud to participate in this program and welcomes prospective APS students to apply for La Trobe programs in the areas specified by the Indonesian government. Endeavour Awards ProgrammeThe Endeavour Awards Programme is an Australian Government initiative, bringing together under the one umbrella all of the Department of Education, Science and Training’s (DEST) international scholarships. Over the next five years from 2007 to 2011, up to 10,000 scholarships will be offered as part of the Endeavour Programme. The Programme aims to bring high achieving students, researchers and professionals from the Asia-Pacific region and other regions to Australia to undertake short or long term study, research and professional development in a broad range of disciplines. It also encourages Australians to do the same abroad.
