Sports clubs

At La Trobe, there are over 50 clubs and societies that cater to a range of sport, recreational, academic, social and cultural pursuits. Students can also choose to join any number of special interest groups or professional associations. These provide an exciting opportunity for you to pursue your extra-curricular interests and to make friends. The Student Guild will provide more information.

Sports and recreation

All La Trobe campuses offer extensive sports and recreation facilities:

  • University Sports Centre at the Melbourne (Bundoora) campus. Open 7 days.
  • World-class athletics facility at the Bendigo campus, used during the 2004 Commonwealth Games.
  • Sports playing fields for soccer, Australian Rules Football, baseball, cricket, Ultimate Frisbee and touch.
  • Sports Centres: indoors swimming pools, gymnasiums, group exercise, basketball, netball, volleyball, indoor soccer, table tennis as well as tennis, squash and badminton courts.
  • Numerous programs ranging from yoga and pilates to dancing (belly, hip-hop, ballet, jazz and ballroom).
  • All levels of first aid training (accredited).
  • Inter-college, intervarsity and community sports.
  • Sporting clubs.

Student Trips

We like to make it easy for you to make the most of your time at La Trobe! Our student trips are an affordable way to see the best of the country and make new friends at the same time. Popular outings have included:

  • Sydney and Canberra
  • Skiing in the Alps
  • The historic goldfields in Bendigo and Ballarat
  • Phillip Island Penguin Parade
  • The Gold Coast in Queensland
  • The Great Ocean Road
  • Camping in the Australian outback
  • Learning to surf in Torquay.

Student exchange opportunities
