Airport reception

You must have a confirmed accommodation address to book this free service.

Airport Reception can also be booked via the online ISIS Portal, but if you do not have the username and password to use this as yet, you can book via the online booking form.

Please also read the important information below regarding booking deadlines.

Regardless of the time of day or night you arrive, La Trobe International (LTI) can arrange for you to be welcomed at Melbourne Airport (Tullamarine), Albury Airport or at the Albury Railway Station. You will be taken to your accommodation by a representative of La Trobe University's airport reception agent.

Please note that you cannot book Airport Reception until you have confirmed accommodation. If you haven't yet organised permanent accommodation here are some suggestions for Temporary Accommodation for you to consider.

To make use of this free service, complete the relevant Airport Reception Form (Melbourne, Bendigo, Albury-Wodonga) as soon as possible. You will also need to download the Melbourne International Airport Reception Map (pdf 145kb) In order to complete the form you will need the following details.

  1. Student Name
  2. Student Number
  3. Date of Birth
  4. Faculty
  5. Email Address
  6. Arrival Date
  7. Arrival Time
  8. Airline
  9. Flight Number into Melbourne
  10. Address you will be dropped at.
    Note: If this is an on-campus college accommodation, give only the name of the college; if this is a private home/Homestay, give full address and telephone number as well; if this is a hotel/motel/backpackers, give full address and booking confirmation number and telephone number as well.

Make sure that you have these details at hand before proceeding.

Melbourne and Franklin Street campus students

La Trobe International will organise for you to be taken to your destination but please note that if the distance from Melbourne (Tullamarine) Airport to your drop-off destination is further than 45km, you may have to pay a surcharge. You will be advised of this additional amount at the time of booking.

Friends and family members can also accompany you for an additional A$30 per extra person, paid in cash to the driver. You must advise LTI staff at the time of booking if friends and family members will be accompanying you.

Please be aware that all new students need to book airport reception on their own behalf.

If you change your flight details without notifying LTI, or fail to use the airport reception service without notifying us that you no longer need it, you will be charged the costs incurred (A$45.00).

Alternatives

If you don't wish to use the Airport Reception service, you can also reach La Trobe University from the airport by taxi (approximately a half hour trip, A$55) or by taking a shuttle service such as the SkyBus from the airport to the city (20 minute trip, A$15 per person) or Eastside Buslines Airport Bus to Heidelberg or Preston (A$19 per person) and public or other transport to the University from there (Eastside's Airport Bus can do a door-to-door service if you pre-book).

Bendigo campus students

LTI Bendigo can arrange for you to be met on your arrival at Melbourne Airport and taken to your accommodation at Bendigo. To make use of this free service, complete the Airport Reception Advice Form and forward it to LTI Bendigo as soon as possible. Please note that should you change your flight details without notifying LTI Bendigo, or fail to use the service once you have requested airport reception, you will be charged for the costs incurred ($130).

If you choose to make use of the Airport Reception service, you will be met at Melbourne (Tullamarine) Airport by a university representative. Look for the driver holding the La Trobe University, Bendigo , sign when you arrive.

If you are arriving on a domestic flight, go down the escalator to the baggage carousels and collect your luggage. The driver will be waiting for you at the baggage carousels.

If you are arriving on an international flight, after you exit Customs, continue straight through to the Arrivals Hall. The driver will be waiting for you in front of the Tourist Information Service (TIS). If you cannot find the driver holding the La Trobe University, Bendigo sign just ask the staff at the TIS for assistance, or contact an International Office Staff member on the office phone, +61 (0)3 5444 7924.

Regardless of the time of day or night you arrive, if you inform the International Office of your flight details, you will be met by our representative and taken to your accommodation.

Albury-Wodonga campus students

Transit from Melbourne to Albury-Wodonga

Should you wish to take a domestic flight to Albury from your arrival point in Australia airport you will need to go to the domestic terminal. Regional Express, Qantas airlines or Virgin Australia airlines fly to Albury. It is important to book in advance.

Should you wish to travel to Albury by train from Melbourne international airport, the V Line train service from Southern Cross station is most convenient. La Trobe International can arrange for an airport reception service from Melbourne international airport which will drop you off at Southern Cross station for your travel to Albury train station.  

Please use our Melbourne online booking form to book your Melbourne airport to Southern Cross station transfer. If you need to have temporary accommodation in Melbourne prior to your departure to Albury-Wodonga, please make your own arrangements. 

Transit from Sydney to Albury-Wodonga

Should you wish take a domestic flight to Albury you will need to go to the domestic terminal. Sydney, International/domestic Airport transfers can be arranged with Sydney Airporter shuttles. It is important to book your domestic flight well in advance. Regional Express, Qantas airlines or Virgin Australia airlines fly to Albury.

Should you wish to travel by train to Albury, first take the train from Sydney airport to Central Station. Please consult the airport link information for bookings and timetables. It is important to book your train ticket to Albury in advance with New South Wales trains.

Reception at Albury airport or railway station is available. Please use our online booking form to book your Albury pickup.

*Important Note and Booking Deadlines

Airport reception cannot be guaranteed unless confirmed flight details are received by La Trobe International (LTI) at least 24 hours prior to departure. If you are arriving on a Saturday, Sunday or a Monday you must submit your flight details by 12 noon the previous Friday. If your arrival details change, you must notify us as soon as possible. Changes to Saturday, Sunday or Monday arrival details must be sent to LTI no later than 12 noon AEST(GMT+10) on the Friday before you arrive. Changes to arrival details for Tuesday through Friday should be sent to LTI at least 24 hours prior to departure from your home country.

For late flight delays or cancellations, you should also inform TOGOTO Australia of these changes IMMEDIATELY by contacting TOGOTO staff direct on +61 419 433 922 or +61 409 503 646.

As stated on page 5 (printable PDF version) of our Pre-departure Guide, a fee of AUD$45 will be charged to students who fail to use the airport reception service once it has been requested.  If you no longer require the service you need to cancel it at least 24 hours in advance or if you are arriving on a Saturday, Sunday or Monday by 12noon EST the Friday before.

We cannot transport large luggage items such as large musical instruments, bicycles, surf boards, golf clubs or other items of a similar size. The driver has the right to refuse transport to anyone bringing excessive luggage.
