MBA/Master of Biotechnology - Full Scholarships

The Australian Government and industry are building the future in biotechnology at La Trobe University.

They are investing more than AUD$350 million in research over the next three years. The money will be used to construct the new AgriBio (the Centre for AgriBioscience) and the La Trobe Institute for Molecular Science (LIMS). These new centres will significantly enhance science research, teaching and learning in Australia.

La Trobe University’s Cooperative Research Centre for Biomarker Translation (CRC-BT) is one of the leading research centres for the development of diagnostic and therapeutic agents for the treatment of cancer and autoimmune disease.

The CRC-BT is offering several full fee waiver scholarships on a competitive basis for students who have achieved outstanding results in their undergraduate studies.

Applications for these scholarships are open to students intending to enrol in the Master of Biotechnology/Master of Business Administration double masters degree program (course code: SZBTBA) at La Trobe University commencing in Semester 1, 2010.

How to apply

All students who have received an offer letter for the MBA/Master of Biotechnology will be considered and will not need to apply separately to be considered for this scholarship

The deadline for receiving applications to be eligible for this scholarship is 14th December 2009.

Scholarship recipients will be announced on 18th December 2009

For international students currently in Australia, the deadline for receiving applications is 26th February 2010.

One-Year Business Masters Scholarships (European Students)

La Trobe University's Graduate School of Management is pleased to announce new scholarships available for students from France, Germany, Switzerland and Austria seeking entry into one of the following master programs:

  • Master of International Business
  • Master of Marketing Management
  • Master of Business Administration

Eligibility:
Commencing postgraduate coursework students from France, Germany, Switzerland and Austria into business masters program in:

  • Semester 2, 2009 (for Master of International Business and Master of Marketing Management) Term 3 or 4, 2009 (for Master of Business Administration) OR
  • Semester 1, 2010 (for Master of International Business and Master of Marketing Management) Term 1 or 2, 2010 (for Master of Business Administration)

Please Note: Current students are not eligible for these scholarships.

Selection criteria:

  • Successfully meet the requirements for entry into Master of International Business, Master of Marketing Management or Master of Business Administration (including minimum standards of English language proficiency);
  • Written personal statement (maximum 500 words) addressing your academic merit, what you hope to get out of your study experience at La Trobe, and interest and commitment to promoting the Graduate School of Management to prospective international students.

Value:
$5000AUD tuition waiver scholarship.

Endeavour Awards Program

The Endeavour Awards Program is an Australian Government initiative, bringing together under the one umbrella all of the Department of Education, Science and Trainings (DEST) international scholarships. Over the next five; years from 2007 to 2011, up to 10,000 scholarships will be offered as part of the Endeavour Programme. The Programme aims to bring high achieving students, researchers and professionals from the Asia-Pacific region and other regions to; Australia to undertake short or long term study, research and professional development in a broad range of disciplines. It also encourages Australians to do the same abroad.

There are a number of Endeavour Awards which are applicable to international students who wish to pursue postgraduate coursework or research programs in Australia. These are:

Academic Excellence Scholarships

La Trobe University is pleased to announce the Academic Excellence Scholarship application period now open for Semester 1 and 2, 2010 intakes. These scholarships will provide half scholarships to a number of students, based on academic merit.

Eligibility

Academic Excellence Scholarships are available to international students commencing new full degree undergraduate and postgraduate coursework programs. Research, exchange, ELICOS, foundation, diploma and Honours students are not eligible.

Students must have submitted an application and received an unconditional letter of offer by the scholarship closing date for a course commencing in 2010.

Selection Criteria

Selection is based on academic excellence. Only students with a minimum 80% or equivalent, and who have received an unconditional letter of offer can be considered.

If overseas grading system does not conform to an 80% equivalent but is still of high standard, students may still be considered.

Value

Half scholarships will cover 50% of tuition fees for the duration of the degree. Continuation is subject to satisfactory academic progress and maintaining status as an overseas student.

  • Friday, 22 January 2010 - for Semester 1, 2010
  • Friday, 21 May 2010 - for Semester 2, 2010 (For students in Australia at the time of the application, the closing date would be Friday, 2 July 2010).
