Offshore Programs

La Trobe University offers Diploma, Bachelor and Master courses taught offshore through our partner institutions in China, Hong Kong, Singapore and Vietnam.

These programs enable students to transfer to La Trobe University in Australia with advance standing; to study and complete the remainder of their course, or use their current offshore qualifications for entry into further studies in Australia.

China

East China Normal University (Shanghai)

  • English Preparation (1 year)
  • Diploma in Business (1 year)

La Trobe University offers the Diploma in Business at East China Normal University.

One of China's national key universities, ECNU, delivers the Diploma in Business as an alternative pathway to degree studies. Successful completion of course requirements enable students to further their studies onshore at La Trobe University in Melbourne, and enter into the second year of their business degree.

Harbin Medical University (Harbin)

  • Graduate Certificate in Health Service Management (6 months)
  • Postgraduate Diploma in Health Service Management (1 year)
  • Master of Health Administration (1 year)

The La Trobe China Health Program (CHP) works in association with Chinese universities and other organisations in China to build academic capacity in health management education, health services research and health policy research as well as teaching.

CHP contributes to the training of health service managers through the Graduate Certificate, Postgraduate Diploma in Health Services Management and the Master of Health Administration.

Hong Kong

Chinese University of Hong Kong - CUSCS

  • Bachelor of Nursing (Post-registration) - part-time 18 months

La Trobe University, in cooperation with the Chinese University of Hong Kong, has been offering this program since 1992 with many graduates now working in senior positions in the health services industry in Hong Kong and overseas. This course enables registered nurses with a hospital Certificate or Diploma qualification in nursing to expand their professional education in the discipline, and apply this to their nursing practice.

The three main topic areas threaded within the curriculum are:

  • Clinical Practice
  • Leadership and Management
  • Education.

Graduates from this course will have strong academic basis for further studies, including Master's entry level.

Singapore

Singapore Nurses Association - Nurses Learning Hub P/L

  • Bachelor of Nursing (Post-registration) (part-time 21 months)
  • Master of Nursing (part-time 28-30 months)

The Division of Nursing and Midwifery of La Trobe University, in cooperation with the Singapore Nurses Association - Nurses Learning Hub P/L, has delivered the highly successful Bachelor of Nursing (post-registration) degree for over a decade. The course is designed for comprehensive professional development, enabling experienced registered nurses to expand their knowledge base for application to nursing practice. Students who successfully complete this program are eligible to apply for postgraduate studies in Australia.

Now, with its international recognition for quality educational programs and high academic standards, the Division is pleased to offer the Master of Nursing degree in Singapore. The course provides for two streams of study, Professional (clinical education focus or nursing leadership and management focus) and Research Methods. Upon completion of the first 120 credit points required for the Postgraduate Diploma level study students may elect to exit the course, or complete a further 60 credit points to exit with a Master degree.

Both Bachelor and Master courses are offered in a flexible delivery mode and supported by face-to-face contact with La Trobe University academics. It is equivalent to the degree courses conducted by La Trobe University in Australia, where students who complete this course will receive the same award.

Vietnam

Hanoi University

  • Diploma of Business Administration (1 year)
  • Bachelor of Business (2 years upon completion of Diploma)
  • Master of Business Administration (18 months)

La Trobe University offers business Diploma, Bachelor and its Master program through a joint venture with the reputable Hanoi University (HANU). The continued success of these programs has necessitated the establishment of a La Trobe Office to cater for the demands of the La Trobe courses for students.

The Diploma in Business provides students a pathway into year 2 of the Bachelor of Business degree. Students are given the opportunity to continue their degree at HANU or if preferred, students can study onshore at the Melbourne campus at La Trobe University.

These business programs assist students to build on their knowledge and skills necessary for careers in a wide range of organisations. They aim to increase student’s potential for creating value in the world of business and/or meet the priorities of government organisations.

The Master of Business Administration is designed to enhance skills in managerial and organisational effectiveness, and by adding significant experience to students who have already worked in a supervisory or management position.

Foreign Trade University - Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City

La Trobe University, in partnership with Foreign Trade University (FTU) provides students the possibility of completing the first 4 subjects of the Master's in International Business in Vietnam, before articulating to Australia to complete in one semester the remaining four subjects at La Trobe University. Therefore creating a unique opportunity to gain the experience of studying in Australia for a short time and graduating with La Trobe University degree.
