English and Foundation Studies
La Trobe Melbourne is a pathway option for students who want to study at La Trobe University but cannot gain direct entry. Foundation, Diploma studies and English language courses are offered by La Trobe Melbourne – owned and operated by global education pathway provider Navitas - at the Melbourne campus.
Foundation Studies are designed exclusively for international students and build upon their studies in their home country to meet the entry requirements for undergraduate courses at La Trobe University. They provides a personalised learning environment with an average class size of 25 students.
Diploma Programs offer a pathway for domestic and international students into second year of a range of degrees at La Trobe University. After successful completion of the one-year diploma, students are guaranteed entry to second year of a corresponding university course. Diplomas are currently available in business, information technology, bioscience, mass media and communications and health sciences. The health sciences diploma is only available to international students. All our diplomas are moderated and assessed by the related University faculty.
English Language Intensive Courses for Overseas Students (ELICOS) includes General English and English for Further Studies. Students studying English have access to the Independent Learning Centre (ILC), Student Advisory service, computer and language laboratories, field trips and excursions, cultural studies, and language and social activities, exploring the Australian experience.
