How to Apply

Study Abroad Program

To apply directly for Study Abroad at La Trobe University, for one or two semesters, please follow these simple steps:

  1. Consult the Unit Guides and choose the units (subjects) which interest you.
  2. Download and complete the relevant Application Form:
    Remember to:
    • Choose units from one campus only.
    • List at least eight units per semester (or per term for Postgraduate Business Admin. Program)
      - if you're applying for two semesters/terms you will need to attach an extra sheet.
    • Clearly indicate with an asterisk (*) which units you are required to take by your home institution.
    • List units in order of preference.
  3. Attach:
    • Original or certified copies of your academic transcripts (current and others as required).
    • Original or certified copy of evidence of your English language proficiency.
    • Any other information specified in the entry requirements for the units you have chosen.
    • NOTE FOR RESEARCH STUDENTS: Research candidates applying for Study Abroad must include a 300 word Research Proposal in the Application Form (PDF 73kb) and details of your potential Supervisor. Please ensure that the Study Plan section of your application lists your "Research Methodology" for each semester you intend to study at La Trobe. Resources are available to help you find a Supervisor and to write a research proposal (PDF 46kb).

Offer Acceptance

If your application is successful, you will receive a Letter of Offer and an Offer & Acceptance Information Booklet.

To accept your offer, you must follow the instructions enclosed with your Letter of Offer and pay the total deposit sum indicated. This information is also available online on our Offer Acceptance page.

Once you have accepted your offer, we will send you a Pre-departure Guide which provides valuable information regarding our free airport reception service, accommodation, and more. This guide is also available online.

We strongly recommend that you organise your travel arrangements to arrive in time for our Welcome Festival (orientation) program for international students (see our calendar for dates). This program contains important information sessions, including enrolment assistance, and is also an excellent opportunity for you to meet other students and staff.
