La Trobe University overseas representatives

La Trobe has a network of representatives around the world that can help you with your application to the Study Abroad program. They can assist with your application, documentation verification, pre-visa assessment (if required), visa applications and pre-departure assistance including airport reception and accommodation bookings.

Direct applicants

Follow these steps carefully:

  1. Select your course -
    Choose units (subjects) which suit you by referring to the subjects that are offered in the Study Abroad Program (Study Abroad Units (title)). 
    For a brief description of each unit, you can you can have a look at the unit database.

  2. Check that you meet the academic entry requirements

  3. Check that you meet the English language proficiency requirements.
    If you have not satisfied these requirements you can still apply to study at La Trobe University as the University may make you a conditional offer. Students who successfully complete the English for Further Studies Advanced Stage 5B Certificate at UG (undergraduate) or PG (postgraduate) level, offered by the La Trobe University International College, may enter directly into most courses without sitting any further English tests.

  4. Complete the application form (PDF 73KB) and attach

    1. Original or certified copies of your academic qualifications
    2. Original or certified copies of evidence of your English language proficiency
    3. Any other information specified in the entry requirements (e.g. pre-requisites) for the units you have chosen.

  5. Send your application form to La Trobe International.

Closing dates for applications

There are no official closing dates for direct applications or applications lodged through La Trobe University representatives. However, it is important to allow a minimum of four to six weeks to obtain a student visa and make travel arrangements; in some countries student visas can take up to 16 weeks to process.

Applicants who already have a student visa can apply for entry to Semester 1 units until mid-January and Semester 2 units until mid-June. Those who do not have a student visa should apply by November at the latest, for Semester 1, and by April for Semester 2.
