How to accept
Streamlined Visa Processing (SVP)
If you have applied to study at La Trobe University via one of our authorised representatives or agents please speak with them regarding SVP and refer to the Offer Acceptance Information sent with your Letter of Offer.
Students who have submitted their application directly to the University
Students who fall within this category have their eligibility as a Genuine Temporary Entrant and Genuine Student for visa purposes assessed by La Trobe University at the time of submitting an application:
- students who hold a passport from an Assessment Level 1 and 2 country
- Study Abroad and Exchange students
- research students
- students who are fully sponsored to study in Australia (by their Government, University or other authorised body)
- current La Trobe University students graduating/articulating from another program
- students that have applied directly initially and then subsequently decided to process their application/acceptance further with a La Trobe University authorised agent
- cross-institutional students (applying to study one or two units at La Trobe University).
If the above criteria applies to you, to accept your offer, send the following to La Trobe International:
- completed and signed Offer Acceptance Form (PDF 532KB)
- payment for the required deposit as set out in your Letter of Offer
- certified evidence of meeting any conditions specified in your offer, where applicable
- a letter of guarantee from your sponsoring organisation, where applicable.
You will then be issued with a Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE) that will enable you to apply for a student visa.
Students who do not meet any of the above criteria
Your eligibility as a Genuine Temporary Entrant and Genuine Student must be determined before finalising your acceptance. You will be required to send to La Trobe International:
- a completed and signed Offer Acceptance Form (PDF 532KB)
- certified evidence of meeting any conditions specified in your offer, where applicable
- a completed and signed Applicant Financial Declaration Form (PDF 455KB).
Upon receipt of your acceptance documents, you will be contacted by a La Trobe International representative who will conduct a brief interview – either by phone or in person (for students in Victoria). The interview will include a series of questions and will cover areas such as:
- reasons for selecting Australia as a study destination and your course selection and if this course matches your academic and professional background
- your understanding of the career outcomes, structure and delivery mode of the course
- your intention to bring any family members to Australia
- your visa history and details of any visa refusal
- your understanding of fees and living costs, maintaining sufficient funds and work rights while studying
- your understanding of DIAC's role in the student visa process.
For a list of the questions you will be asked during your interview, see the Applicant Eligibility Checklist.
If the University determines that you are a Genuine Temporary Entrant and Genuine Student for visa purposes, and you have the financial capacity to support your studies, you can then submit your payment for the deposit as listed in your Letter of Offer.
You will then be issued a Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE) that will enable you to apply for a student visa.
