Becoming a Master of Professional Accounting (Issue 1, 2012)

Imran Daud PanhwarImran Daud Panhwar is from Pakistan and came to La Trobe University to study a Master of Professional Accounting. He is enjoying his time in Melbourne and takes every opportunity he can to make sure his time here is full of enjoyment!

Imran is the newest La Trobe International blogger, and is extremely happy and grateful for the opportunity. So far, he has only given his first insight into living in Melbourne, but it is extremely thoughtful and positive.

Imran found his first week here a little difficult, but appreciates the help La Trobe International gave him when he first arrived in Melbourne.

‘My first week was really annoying and stressful; I got my visa late and missed orientation week and on my very first day in Australia, I started classes at La Trobe.

‘La Trobe International really helped me from my very first step here in Australia. Starting with my pickup from the airport – to getting me aware of cultural shock and how I can adjust in the new culture, as I didn’t know anything about Melbourne. La Trobe is marvellous,’ says Imran.

‘I remember my first day, searching for Lecture Hall ELT4 and suddenly a lady came wearing a La Trobe staff card and walked with me to show me the Lecture Hall. I am very thankful to her. As time has passed, I feel more comfortable here in La Trobe, my class mates are really nice and have helped me through this adjusting period.’

Imran loves his university life so much, that it is his dream to become a lecturer of accounting at a top ranking university. When speaking of his international qualification from La Trobe, Imran says:

‘I think it will put me in a better position in my industry, which I have not yet achieved after working for years in my field. The things I have learned here in La Trobe will make me a successful accountant in the future.’
