Hey all

Yeah I’ve been missing again. Well don't blame me, who knew Chisholm would be such fun?

YES! I moved into Chisholm and it has been such a wonderful experience. Made some amazing new friends and it’s fun as well. Best part is I can attend my 9am tute even if I wake up at 8.50am, I have done it haha! Did a little road trip to NSW this Easter with friends and it was fun too.

As for studies, I am struggling a bit with my new subjects but I am getting it all done slowly and steadily. Apart from studies I have AWESOME news, I gave an audition for a TV show on ABC called My Australia and I made it in. I am excited. More news to follow soon.

Oh and just a tip, pack your bags up with books and head to library because mid-semester exams and assignments are all coming up. You don't want to flunk, do you?

Hello all

After a sudden disappearance and a handful of already dealt with troubles, I am back here to my friendly blog.

I have a lot to tell this time around.Ankur

Let's start with the short film that I got a chance to be a part of. While in my course of study at La Trobe University, I read one of our online newsletters that we get every now and then full of useful information and news. There was a section where it said a production company is looking for Indian students to be a part of a documentary they are making. The documentary would be on lives of Indian students here in Australia. It was an amazing experience. Not only did I get a chance to put my inner actor on screen but also to make a lot of friends and meet amazing artists who are pioneers in their fields. Here is the link: www.facebook.com/pages/In-My-Skin. Here is a little piece that was published in MX newspaper.

Secondly, after a lot of research, questioning and recommendations from my friends, I finally decided to move into Chisholm College. That place is amazing. Not that I did not like the accommodation I was living in, but the temptation of waking up at 8:45am and still not being late for a tutorial at 9:00am was far more sweetly appealing to my lazy sweet tooth. Also, the experience of living with international students from all around the world is next to none.

My results were KIND OF OKAY considering it was the first semester on the main campus. I didn't do really well but now I have enough experience to ace the next semester, so students BEWARE :P

See you next time around.

AnkurHello everyone, I am Ankur. All my friends call me Jay because it’s really hard for them to pronounce my name. And I find it funny when they try their best but end up calling me UNCLE in the end.

To put my journey to La Trobe university on paper, I would like to start with my First Year Diploma program that I completed at
La Trobe Melbourne College. I never was a really bright student; neither can I recall getting any award for academic excellence. But that did not stop me from pursuing my higher education at La Trobe University.

Landing in Australia was altogether an experience in itself. I landed here a week before my studies commenced. My student life in Melbourne actually started at La Trobe Melbourne. The free time that I had was spent collecting myself and understanding the public transportation system. With all the basic stuff under control, I started up my study session.

I was expecting a hard-core aggressive teaching method and strict teachers. The reason behind this was that I had come from the education system in Asian countries. I am sure many of you can easily relate to the situation where you were made to stand out of the class or when you were punished for not doing your work on time. As I said I was never a bright student, my parents were regular visitors at my school and everybody knew my parents more than me. They never ever thanked me for this social benefit though haha!

But here it was all different. Teachers actually used different techniques and I was improving my academic skills. I was happy to see a comfortable environment where I was the boss of my own student life. I was allowed to make my own decisions. To submit my assignments or not – it was totally on me. To fail or to pass was completely based on my personal efforts. I was loving it. It gave me a chance to change myself and my attitude towards studies.

After grasping all the basic study skills needed for Australian student life, I moved onto the main campus,
La Trobe University, and onto my second year.

This is my first semester here and I am loving it. It not just gives me chance to improve my academic skills but it also gives me a chance to expand my creative self as well. In only my first semester, I have won a photography competition and a video competition. I always wanted to play with my camera and La Trobe has given me plenty of opportunities to believe in myself and go ahead with it. I even started my very own youtube channel.

Enough of fancy "this is me" talk. Wrapping this one up here. Already looking ahead to my next post.

Catch you all again with some quick words real soon.
