Project Director, Estates Development Division

Responsibilities

  • The designated point of authority for all project matters relating to the Pathways Student Teaching Accommodation project.
  • Assists the University in taking a proactive approach to secure government grants for capital and infrastructure purposes.
  • Lead the Project Team for creation and delivery of projects.
  • Assessing and approving invoices for all consultants and contractors involved with allocated projects.
  • Maintains an overview of all Occupational Health and Safety matters relating to the Estates Development Division project works.

Other skills

  • Strong technical understanding of construction methodology and the underlying principles of structure and materials
  • Experienced in commercial and contractual negotiations and also those associated with the sale, purchase and lease of real estate.

Biography

Richard holds a Bachelor of Building from the University of Melbourne with majors in both Construction and Quantity Surveying. He has over 20 years experience in project management and construction working across a diverse range of sectors in Australia and overseas.

Richard has held senior positions with companies such as Baulderstone Hornibrook where he worked on the Docklands Stadium and the Museum of Victoria projects. He also project managed the BMW Headquarters and numerous Department of Defence projects with Project Planning & Management, and was responsible for Monash STRIP, the new Monash Malaysia campus, Berwick campus expansion and several other projects for Monash University. He has worked with Jones Lang LaSalle, Resource Architecture and L U Simon Builders, and since 2006, was Regional Property & Construction Manager with Iron Mountain Australia until joining La Trobe in June 2010.
