Senior Commercial Project Manager, Estates Development Division

Responsibilities

  • Project Director on the following Projects:
-  BURF Library Refurbishment
-  David Myers Level 3, Vice Chancellor’s area
-  AgriBio - Centre for AgriBiosciences
  • Liaising with the State’s commercial and legal advisors to identify issues affecting La Trobe University in respect to the procurement and delivery of the AgriBio project
  • Monitoring and reporting on all time/cost/quality milestones to deliver successful project outcomes.
  • Contributes to the commercial outcomes on projects through regular interaction with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Administering contracts, and resolving commercial and technical issues that arise during the construction period.

Biography

After graduating with Honours in Building Surveying, Dermot has worked as a Senior Project Manager/Building Consultant on a number of major projects around the world. He has over 15 years experience within the property/construction industry.

In the UK, where he is originally from, Dermot has worked in senior positions undertaking a wide range of commercial, industrial, residential and retail sector projects for several leading property consultancy firms. In addition to this Dermot also worked as a Project Manager for Raleigh International in Costa Rica, where he managed a team to construct a bird observation tower and research station in a tropical rainforest as part of an eco-tourism venture.

Dermot is currently directing several multi-million dollar projects at La Trobe University’s Melbourne Campus.
