Leading researchers applying the sensors

Researching the science of art

La Trobe’s expert researchers will feature in The Australian Ballet’s online broadcast for World Ballet Day, reaching an estimated audience of 1 million people across the globe.

See all the action by tuning into the live stream from 12pm on Thursday 5 October, with a special feature on La Trobe’s research at 4.15pm.

La Trobe’s researchers will work in real time with Australia’s elite ballet dancers to investigate the movement of dancers’ hips. This first-of-its-kind research will capture the biomechanical movement of 25 dancers using La Trobe’s Vicon Motion Analysis system. These findings will improve our understanding of how hip movements can affect dancer performance, aiding in injury prevention and management.
