Professor Ann Matthysee

Professor of Biology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a member of the Curriculum in Genetics and Molecular Biology at that university.

Professor Matthysse is a distinguished bacteriologist. Her research has focused on the interaction of soil bacteria and the roots of diverse species of plants. She has thus demonstrated the importance of cellulose produced by bacteria for their efficient attachment to the plant surface. She has published extensively in the leading international journals in the field and continues to play a leading role in shaping the direction of the field.
