Professor Loeschcke's research interests include Evolutionary Genetics, Environmental Stress, Adaptation to Extreme Environments, Thermal Adaptation, Conservation Biology, Ancient DNA and Biodiversity.

While at the Institute for Advanced Study Professor Loeschcke's research focused on a review of experimental work on adaptation to extreme temperatures in Drosophila and on field experiments on estimating fitness in Drosophila.
