Professor Miroslav Haviar

Professor of Mathematics at the PdF, M. Bel University, Slovakia
 

Dr Miroslav Haviar received his PhD in the field of Algebra from Comenius University in Bratislava , Slovak Republic, in 1993. Earlier, in 1988, he won a Minister of Education prize for outstanding results for his studies in Mathematics. In 1993–1994 he held a post-doctoral fellowship at Oxford University where he worked on the theory of natural dualities for varieties of algebraic structures with Dr. B.A. Davey (from La Trobe University) and Dr. H.A. Priestley (from Oxford University). Together they solved a major problem that had been unsolved since 1980. Subsequently, Dr. Haviar has become recognized as one of the leading experts in the theory of natural dualities.
