Dr Gerald Bloom has worked for many years on health system development in the context of rapid economic and institutional change in Africa and Asia . He is the Deputy Chairman of the China Health Development Forum.

While at the Institute for Advanced Study Dr Bloom completed a draft of a chapter to be included in a publication on policy-oriented health systems research, as well as a chapter on China to be included in a book on health policy in Asia and Pacific. He also completed work on a book that presents the findings of a study of urban health services in China .
