Professor of fisheries economics at the Norwegian School of Economics and Business Administration in Bergen, Norway. Professor Hannessen is the author of several books on fisheries economics and petroleum economics, as well as a large number of journal articles and book chapters. He has done consultancy work on fisheries for the FAO, the OECD, the World Bank, the governments of Iceland and Norway, and participated in a review of individual fishing quotas in the United States in 1997-98.
