Study at the Bendigo campus
Visual Arts and Graphic Design
Undergraduate Studies
 |
Julie - Bachelor of Visual Arts
The Bendigo campus was an obvious choice due to their extensive Visual Arts offerings. The course offers me the opportunity to explore my passion for photography and
photojournalism.
For me the most enjoyable aspect of the course is having the opportunity to create new and interesting work using the photographic medium which offers a platform for expression and observation. I am also able to expand my visual literacy skills in order to reach my full potential.
I have found that my lecturers and tutors are both encouraging and approachable at all times and are genuinely interested in sharing both their knowledge and ideas.
Studying at La Trobe has built a solid foundation in order to nurture my life-long hobby and passion into a career. My advice to those considering returning to study - do it now - the rewards are many!

Mal - Master of Visual Arts
Having the opportunity to study Graphic Design at Masters level has given me the ability to focus on my passion for illustration, design and children’s books.
The focus of my research and studio work involves looking closely at the relationship between text and image in children’s picture books. I’m also creating children’s picture books to complement my research.
Postgraduate study has assisted in opening up doors that may not have existed if I had immediately entered the workforce after completing my undergraduate studies. Since commencing my candidature at the beginning of 2007 I have managed to secure a contract with a major publisher of cutting edge children’s books in Australia. It has been my dream for a long time to be published by this company as they produce some really fresh and exciting children’s books by extremely talented authors and illustrators, so this is a very exciting time!
I have found the facilities available for my research to be fantastic. The Heyward Library is extremely well equipped with an extensive range of resources. I have found the teaching and research environment to be outstanding.
My supervisors are often always available for assistance and have been a great support. Their encouragement has given me a great deal of confidence to embark on the postgraduate journey. While studying at La Trobe I have received several awards commending my efforts.
