La Trobe is collaborating with prestigious international partner Common Purpose through their Global Leader Experiences. The interdisciplinary Singapore Study Tour turns one of the most exciting, globalised and multicultural countries on earth into a classroom where students explore the principal of cultural diversity through the lens of any discipline or study area.
Course content focuses on recognising individual experience and the validity of diverse cultural expression. The Study Tour is delivered in partnership with Common Purpose, host of the prestigious Global Leader Experiences program.
This Study Tour will be delivered as a five-day intensive that explores the critical aspects of the culture, peoples and society through a fieldwork challenge, research, practical exercise and site visits. Students will develop a research project that reflects their discipline’s methods while engaging in creative thinking, analysis and problem solving in the richness of a multi‑discipline setting.
During the Study Tour you will build competencies that:
- equip you to deal with the breadth and scale of diversity
- equip you to deal with diverse stakeholders
- increase your ability to adapt to unfamiliar situations.
The leadership learning involves:
- building broader networks
- making better decisions
- creating bold innovations.

- 100 word written statement on why you would like to take part in the trip, with special reference to the objectives and the contribution to your course and learning objectives.
A briefing will take place on Wednesday 16 November 2016 for all students undertaking the study tour. The briefing will be video-conferenced to all campuses. Time and location TBA.
Financial assistance and loans are available to help students undertake an overseas experience as part of their degree. La Trobe Abroad offers up to $500 for overseas short courses. The Australian Government may allocate a number of OS-HELP loans to La Trobe University annually to help eligible students undertake part of their study overseas.
