Meet our student

Lucy Winkler

Course of study:
Bachelor of Creative Arts

I’m Lucy Winkler and I’d like to do something in the creative industries and make lots of friends along the way.

I am a second year Creative Arts student, which means I basically study theatre, cinema, English and media subjects. I get to watch and review movies and plays and write essays about my favourite novels. It’s a great course for people who love being creative.

I love being useful to new and potential students by sharing my story about my university experience. It has been a pretty life changing, scary but exciting experience and being an ambassador shows how far I’ve come from being a new and nervous first year student.

Don’t be afraid to ask questions of your lecturers and tutors…that’s what they’re there for! And don’t be afraid to introduce yourself to other people. Making friends in your lectures and tutorials will make it so much easier for you, socially and academically.

La Trobe is a big sprawling campus that welcomes people from all walks of life who have a passion for education and learning. With the Wildlife Sanctuary, moat and flocks of ducks and geese, you’d think it was a country campus but in fact it’s only around half an hour to the CBD. Not that you need the city, La Trobe has so much going on, it even has its own postcode! I love being involved in campus activities like student theatre and film and have met a lot of fabulous people through all the extra clubs and societies available to students.
