Meet our student

Martin Dickens

Course of study:
Bachelor of Arts

My name is Martin Dickens and I’m a student ambassador at La Trobe University. In the long term, I hope to work in education.

I’m currently studying a Bachelor of Arts with majors in history and English. After this, I hope to complete a Masters of Teaching postgraduate course. Being a student ambassador has allowed me to engage with future and current students and help them understand the benefits of tertiary education. Furthermore, I get to meet lots of new people and create important social and academic relationships that aid in completing my studies.

Becoming a student ambassador is both an exciting and rewarding experience; helping prospective students pursue their dream careers. After settling into university life, I’ve been able to pass the knowledge I’ve gained on to others and show them the dynamic lifestyle La Trobe offers its students.

It’s important to understand the academic requirements of your course but also explore the different avenues that lead to university study. There are numerous opportunities for future students to study at university and with the range of career workshops available, it’s good to know all your options.

La Trobe University is unique in its ability to engage students on a social and academic level. The extensive range of multimedia and published resources the university has complements the excellent assistance provided by faculties and staff. I’ve met many wonderful people from a range of diverse backgrounds in my time at La Trobe. Communicating with students of different ages with different experiences has really enriched my tertiary experience.
