Ramón’s research interests include social and cultural aspects of sport, sport for development and peace (SDP), refugee settlement, social mobility, social exclusion, and terrorism and political violence. Ramón has taught in sociology, anthropology, management and political science at undergraduate and graduate levels.

As a researcher, Ramón specialises in social and cultural aspects and impacts of sport, notably in areas of social mobility, violence, hooliganism, racism, social capital, belonging and social exclusion. He also researches terrorism and political violence. His current research projects include:
