Brief Profile
After graduating from RMIT (photography) in 1997, Kristian Haggblom won the CCP/Leica Documentary Award and held his first solo exhibition. In 1999 he moved to Tokyo where he lived for six years. During this time he established and ran an experimental art space and exhibited extensively. In 2007, Haggblom travelled through west and central America and most recently did the inaugural Australia Council for the Arts, Helsinki residency. Haggblom also works as an independent curator and has curated a number of cross-cultural exhibitions including re-socialization: the Wentworth Gaol Project, as part of the Murray Darling Palimpsest, Silent Ruptures (CCP, Melbourne and 24HR Art, NT) and Paper Bridges (CAST, Tasmania). He is presently a PhD candidate through Monash University investigating his project A Landscape of Events: A Photographic Investigation of Australian Tourist Locations.
