Brief Profile

James Cannon joined the French Program at La Trobe University in July 2011. He wrote his PhD on literary, visual and musical representations of an historic slumbelt in Paris known as the zone. His research interests include 19th and 20th-century French cultural history, the history of French popular song, the history of Paris and Vichy France. James has been teaching at tertiary level in the area of French Studies since 1992. Before coming to La Trobe University, he taught at Monash University and the University of Melbourne.
