Brief profile

Erdem graduated from Law and Journalism at La Trobe.  He has had various experiences in the media, including a seven-year stint at SBS, where he is currently based in radio news and current affairs.

Erdem started working for SBS as part of the Turkish language program’s broadcasts.  He then went on to work for SBS Radio's flagship current affairs program World View (now known as World News Australia Radio), where he covered the Black Saturday bushfires.  Erdem has been involved in producing and presenting World News Australia Radio. 

Erdem has also written for a range of other media, including The Age and Crikey. 

He is the founding editor of online magazine upstart, which showcases student writing, and provides a platform for emerging journalists.

He is currently completing a research thesis examining how media reporting of foreign aid shapes public policy.

Erdem is also involved in performing arts. He has his own theatre company, where he writes, directs and acts in plays.
