As a reporter for radio and then television, he covered police rounds, courts, industrial relations and general news before moving into sport in 1993. His masters thesis discussed how to apply “ethics on the run” in sport journalism by looking at the case of Channel 7’s decision to publish information gained from the medical records of two AFL players. David is currently completing a PhD on homosexuality in the AFL through La Trobe University’s Centre for Sport & Social Impact. David is the coordinator of the Bachelor of Journalism (Sport) degree.
