Brief profile
Brigid Maher joined the Italian Program at La Trobe at the start of 2010. She completed her PhD in Translation Studies at Monash University in 2008 and has taught at Monash University and the Australian National University. Her main area of research relates to the translation of humour, irony, satire, parody and the grotesque in Italian and English literature. Other research interests include contemporary Italian literature and society, transnational literature, crime fiction, audiovisual and comics translation, and the translation of Australian literature. Brigid is also a published literary translator.
