New Courses for 2012
The Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences will be offering the following new courses from 2012. These new courses will further enhance the already wide range and depth of study available in this dynamic and diverse faculty.
Work Ready Bachelor of Arts
The Work Ready BA builds on the traditional flexibility of the Bachelor of Arts and prepares you for the workforce by offering additional specific career development subjects and work placements. By providing a full portfolio of skills and experiences, the degree is designed to transition you from university to work.

Bachelor of Strategic Communication
The Bachelor of Strategic Communication is an industry accredited degree that includes majors in public relations, advertising and marketing (including social marketing). Subjects will address the role of social media and emerging platforms such as mobile media, as well as emphasise writing for broadcast and print, focussing on developing theory through practice. The degree is structured around internships and other opportunities that allow students to engage with industry. More information can be found in the New Courses for 2012 flyer.

Bachelor of Community Development
This innovative course provides students with the knowledge, skills and capabilities to be leaders in community development. With a focus on working in cities, regional towns and with rural communities, the course can provide the basis for a career in this field anywhere in Australia or overseas. The course can be taken as a three year degree or as one year introductory diploma. A particular feature of the degree is that it includes the opportunity for participation in actual projects in the community and fieldwork involving community planning and development initiatives and projects. Bachelor of Community Development (Health Promotion and Planning)
The Bachelor of Community Development (Health Promotion and Planning) is a new degree designed to meet community health needs. Classes are local, with smaller sizes allowing more contact with lecturers and tutors. This is a course that can help you make a difference to the community. Diploma of Arts
The Diploma of Arts is a one year diploma offered to regional students who are not ready to undertake a full three-year length Bachelor of Arts degree, for either academic or personal reasons. The Diploma of Arts offers an introduction to post-secondary study of humanities and social sciences in a supportive learning environment. The diploma will offer structured support throughout the course and successful completion will provide a pathway into the second year of the Bachelor of Arts. Students who wish to leave the Bachelor of Arts after one year of study may exit with a Diploma of Arts. More information can be found in the New Courses for 2012 flyer.
