La Trobe in the City - Ancient Mediterranean Lecture Series
The Ancient Mediterranean Lecture Series is designed for anyone with an interest in the ancient world. Classes are informal and give participants a chance to learn about the ancient world from enthusiastic and experienced lecturers. Everyone is welcome and no prior knowledge of the ancient world is necessary. There are two lectures each week over a six week term and you can come to one, a selection, or all of them. Each lecture can be attended separately although they are designed to complement each other in thematic groups. Students who want a more interactive experience can participate in the reading groups. These classes are small and relaxed facilitated discussion groups on ancient texts. Each week a section of text will be discussed around talking points designed to generate lively and in-depth discussion. Classes take place in the heart of Carlton at the Museo Italiano.
Program
Lectures and reading groups in Term Two are being offered in the knowledge areas of Greek Theatre, Roman Spectacle, Greek Epic, Ancient Philosophy, Ancient Roman History, Roman History and more.
