Disciplines and areas of study

The Faculty offers a number of disciplines and areas of study that can be undertaken as part of the Bachelor of Arts degree.

A discipline is a generic term for a related body of knowledge, e.g. philosophy, English, history, while an area of study is a unit made up from different disciplines which are grouped together through a common theme, e.g. Australian Studies is made up of the following disciplines; archaeology, English, history, politics and sociology.

Students can also take a limited number of units from disciplines outside the Faculty. Check details with the Faculty Office at the campus you wish to study at.

Disciplines/areas of study offerings vary from campus to campus. Always check with the Faculty office at the campus you are interested in studying at which discipline programs and areas of study are available.
