As a mature age student you will have had life experience that gives you a different perspective to study. The Faculty of Education acknowledges that mature age students bring a wealth of life skills with them, contribute to courses that benefits other students and staff. We welcome your interest and potential enrolment and provide the following pathways for you to commence this educational journey. There are a variety of pathways that will enable you to enter an education course.
- You can complete an academic degree in a non-education area and then be eligible for entry into a approved postgraduate teacher education course,ie: Graduate Diploma in Education (Primary), Graduate Diploma in Education (Secondary), Master of Teaching (P-12) etc,.
- You may have partially completed an academic degree in a non-education area. You would then be eligible to enter an approved four-year undergraduate education. You may also be eligible for advance standing for some of the subjects studied in your incomplete bachelor degree.
- You may not completed Year 12 and wish to pursue a teaching career. If you wish to seek this pathway into an approved four-year undergraduate education you would need to sit a STAT test. This is an aptitude test that helps the Selection Officer assess your academic potential. For more information visit the Mature-Age Entry page.
Alternatively you may just wish to try some of the subjects on offer before enrolling in a degree. Enrolling and successfully completing two single units will provide an alternative pathway for entry as a mature age student into an approved four-year undergraduate education. Single units are available on a fee-paying basis only.
