I am also Co-Editor of the international refereed journal JILAS~Journal of Iberian and Latin American Studies; Convenor of the ILAS Summer and Winter Schools; and Victorian Regional Representative of the Association of Iberian and Latin American Studies of Australasia (AILASA).

I also conduct a monthly show on radio station 3CR-855 AM discussing the relationship between history and music in Latin America and the Caribbean.

research interests include Brazilian history especially the Getulio Vargas era; aural history (history through music and popular culture) in Latin America, the Caribbean, Lusophone (Portuguese speaking) Africa and East Timor; and international relations in particular United States foreign policy in Latin America and the Caribbean.
