Cleft Assist: For the Speech Pathology Student and Practising Clinician

Cleft Assist is a resource manual designed for Speech Pathology students and qualified Speech Pathologists who are interested in furthering their theoretical and practical knowledge required to provide services to a child with a cleft lip and/or palate (CL and/or P). Cleft Assist offers basic information regarding CL and/or P and ideas on where to access further information. This resource is designed to support clinical decision making in generalist paediatric Speech Pathology clinics, where a specialist in the area of CL and/or P is not available.

Cleft Assist provides answers to many of the important questions that a parent/caregiver may ask of a Speech Pathologist regarding their child. It focuses on the assessments and treatments that Speech Pathologists can use in the management of speech, language, hearing and swallowing disorders associated with CL and/or P.  Cleft Assist also provides fact sheets that Speech Pathologists photocopy and provide to parents/caregivers.
