Counselling and social work
Professional placements are an important part of our courses.
Counselling
You will do two supervised placements in second year.
Counselling Psychology
Placements form 25% of our program. You will do 120 days or more of supervised internship at three agencies, with at least 240 hours of supervised client contact.
Social work
You will complete 70-day placements in third and fourth years. A qualified, experienced social worker will supervise you for a minimum of 1.5 hours per 5 days of placement. Through placements you will work with people and communities and in community development, advocacy and research projects. We’ve recently placed students in Child Protection, Northwest Mental Health, Austin Health, Berry Street Take Two, Disability Services, Aged Services, Refugee Services and the Victorian Aboriginal Child Care Agency.
