Bachelor of Nursing (Division 2 / Enrolled Nurse) – Entry Examination
How do I apply for the Bachelor of Nursing (Division 2 / Enrolled Nurse Conversion)?
There are two things that you need to do to apply for entry into the Bachelor of Nursing (Division 2 / Enrolled Nurse Conversion)
- You must apply for the course through VTAC and
- If you are applying for entry into the Bundoora campus you must register to sit the entry examination (see below section: Do I have to sit the entry examination?)
Please Note:
- You must bring your VTAC ID with you on the day, along with a pen and identification.
- In order to be eligible for selection into this course, you must sit the entry exam. Examination registrations are now open.
- Applying through VTAC does not register you for the entry examination
- Registering for the entry examination does not constitute an application through VTAC.

Do I have to sit the entry examination?
The entry examination will only be used by the Bundoora Campus (VTAC Course Code: 21751).
Students applying for entry into the Bachelor of Nursing (Division 2 / Enrolled Nurse Conversion) at the following campuses will not be required to sit the entry examination:
- Albury-Wodonga (VTAC Course Code: 20011)
- Bendigo (VTAC Course Code: 24361)
- Mildura (VTAC Course Code: 25031)
- Shepparton (VTAC Course Code: 25111)
How do I register to sit the entry examination?
You can register to sit the entry examination when VTAC Applications open on the 6th August by filling out the on-line registration form
Students are encouraged to sit the first available examination. Two examination dates will be made available as follows.
10:00 am Sunday 14th October 2012
12:00 pm Sunday 14th October 2012
And
10:00 am Sunday 9th December 2012
Where will the examinations be held?
Western Lecture Theatre 1
Exams will be held on the Bundoora campus.
The Western Lecture Theatre 1 (WLT1) is located at La Trobe University Bundoora Campus, Victoria, 3086. The closest car park is car park 1 which is accessible via Kingsbury Drive, Bundoora.
As Bundoora is a large and complex campus, we recommend that you arrive at least 20 minutes prior to the commencement of the examination time. This will allow you time to find parking and locate the examination venue.

What do I need to bring with me on the day of the exam?
On the day of the examination, please bring the following items:
- Photo identification
- A pen and gray led pencil
How much does the entry examination cost?
There is no cost associated with the examination.
How long is the entry examination?
You will have a 15 minute reading time, followed by a 1 hour long exam.
What can kind of questions can I expect to encounter in the entry examination paper?
The examination paper is being developed specifically for Division 2 Registered / Enrolled Nurses. It will comprise a combination of multiple choice questions as well as short answer questions. The questions will be related to the core competencies associated with the Division 2 qualification.
Do I have to be registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia(NMBA) as a Division 2 / Enrolled Nurse to sit the entry examination?
No you do not need to be registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) prior to sitting the Bachelor of Nursing (Division 2 / Enrolled Nurse Conversion) entry examination. However, we are not able to make a formal offer until evidence of Division 2 Registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) has been sighted.
Do I need to sit the STAT Multiple Choice Test run through VTAC if I am applying for entry into the Bachelor of Nursing (Division 2 Conversion)?
No. The STAT Multiple Choice test was previously used to determine entry into the Bachelor of Nursing (Division 2 / Enrolled Nurse Conversion). For 2011 entry the Entry Examination replaces the STAT Multiple Choice Test (for the Bundoora Campus).
How will applications be selected into the Bachelor of Nursing (Division 2 / Enrolled Nurse Conversion)?
For the Bundoora campus, applicants will be ranked by entry examination scores. Students with the highest scores will be offered a place in the course.
For all other campuses, applications will be assessed using the following
- Results from their Division 2 TAFE studies
- Grade Point Averages
- Relevant Work Experience
- Possible interview
Anatomy and Physiology Bridging Program and Orientation Program
- Bachelor of Nursing (Graduate Entry)
- Bachelor of Nursing (Division 2 / Enrolled Nurse Conversion)
Successful applicants entering either of the above programs are required to complete a compulsory Bridging Program in Anatomy and Physiology and Course Entry Orientation Program.
- Anatomy and Physiology and Bridging Program (Fee $330)
- Course Entry Orientation Program Monday 4th February 2012 - Friday 15th February 2012 (No Fee)
All successful applicants must complete the compulsory Course Entry Orientation Program.
Bachelor of Nursing (Graduate Entry) applicants that can provide documented evidence of having completed anatomy and physiology (within a degree qualification) may apply for Recognition of Prior Learning (known as Advanced Standing) towards the Anatomy and Physiology Bridging Program. Successful applicants to the Bachelor of Nursing (Division 2 / Enrolled Nurse Conversion) that obtained their qualification in 2008 onwards may also apply for Recognition of Prior Learning towards the Anatomy and Physiology Bridging Program.
