Bachelor of Nursing
How do I apply?
Year 12 Students Applying for Undergraduate Courses
Applications for most of La Trobe University’s Undergraduate Courses are made via the Victorian Tertiary Admissions Centre (VTAC). The closing date for timely applications is usually in late September each year. VTAC Applications can be submitted online. NSW applicants who wish to apply for courses at the Albury-Wodonga and/or Mildura campuses need to apply through the New South Wales Tertiary Admissions Centre (UAC).
Division 2 Applicants
From 2010, the prerequisites for entry into the Bachelor of Nursing (Division 2 Conversion) course have changed. Applicants are no longer required to complete the STAT Multiple Choice Test. Bundoora applicants will be required to undertake an admission test set by the Division of Nursing & Midwifery. Further information regarding the new admission test is available via the Division 2 Conversion site.
Bachelor of Nursing (Graduate Entry) applicants
Applicants wishing to apply for the Bachelor of Nursing (Graduate Entry) who have completed a degree overseas are no longer required to supply evidence of NOOSR (National Office of Overseas Skills Recognition) equivalence to VTAC.
Academic Selection Officers within the Division of Nursing & Midwifery will assess overseas qualifications against the NOOSR guidelines for equivalency. If a qualification is deemed equivalent, academic results will then be taken into consideration in order to determine eligibility for an offer.
Applicants in this category must ensure that Academic Transcripts and Testamurs are submitted to VTAC at time of application. Selection Officers are unable to determine eligibility of an offer if they do not have academic results or evidence of successful completion of the degree are available for assessment.
Anatomy and Physiology Bridging Program and Cornerstone Transition Program
- Bachelor of Nursing (Graduate Entry)
- Bachelor of Nursing (Division 2 Conversion)
Successful applicants entering either of the above programs are required to complete a compulsory Bridging Program in Anatomy and Physiology and Course Entry Orientation Program.
- Cornerstone Transition Program (Dates TBA) (No Fee)
Completion of the Bridging Program does not guarantee a place into the Nursing courses.
All successful applicants must complete the compulsory Course Entry Orientation Program.
Bachelor of Nursing (Graduate Entry) applicants who provide documented evidence of having completed anatomy and physiology (within a degree qualification) may apply for Recognition of Prior Learning (known as Advanced Standing) towards the Anatomy and Physiology Bridging Program. Successful applicants into the Bachelor of Nursing (Division 2 Conversion) who qualified from 2008 onwards may also apply for Recognition of Prior Learning towards the Anatomy and Physiology Bridging Program.
Further information about the compulsory courses will be provided to successful candidates as a part of the enrolment pack.
