Prosthetics and orthotics
Our research improves the design of prosthetics and orthotics to improve outcomes.
Research of this group examines the effects of prostheses and orthoses in order to increase understanding, establish efficacy and improve effectiveness of prosthetic and orthotic interventions for people with disability.
While our research has tended to focus on understanding the mechanical effects of prostheses and orthoses, we’ve become increasingly interested in whether these interventions increase participation and quality of life for the people that use them.
Potential PhD topics
The Department will consider any research topic that interests potential PhD students; however, students will benefit from researching in areas that align with the Faculty’s research strengths. Please find a relevant supervisor to discuss your PhD topic.
