Professional Placement Travelling Grant

Important - Changes to Program
The Faculty has recently reviewed this program in response to feedback from both students and professional placement staff. Please note that there have been substantial changes to the program.

The distance criteria (i.e. the distance from your usual place of residence and the location or your placement) has increased from 50 or more kilometres to 100 or more kilometres and the amount of monies available per day of placement has been reduced from $40 to $20. These changes have been necessary to address the increase in applications across the Faculty. We have also adjusted the closing dates for each round to try and capture all of the placement dates across the Faculty. The grants will therefore now be awarded at the completion of placement, rather than in anticipation of the commencement of placement.

Background of Grant
The Faculty of Health Sciences has allocated limited funding to support a competitive grant program designed to help students who have undertaken a professional placement in a location 100 kilometres or more from their usual place of residence. The program is open to all undergraduate and postgraduate students enrolled in a course in the Faculty of Health Sciences.

Amount
Each grant is valued at $20 per day of placement (a maximum of $100 per week).

Number of Grants Awarded
There will be two application rounds for grants each academic year. There will be no set number of grants awarded in any given round, nor will the Faculty allocate a minimum or maximum total amount for grants in any given round.

Selection Process
Applicants will be scored and ranked according to financial need, as demonstrated by the applicant in Section 4 of the application.

Closing Dates for Applications

For placements where the completion date is between 1 January and 30 June 2008
- applications close by 5PM, FRIDAY 11 JULY 2008

For placements where the completion date is between 1 July and 31 December 2008
- applications close by 5PM, FRIDAY, 9 JANUARY 2009
