  1. This policy refers to selection into the undergraduate courses of the Faculty of Health Sciences, however, the general principles apply to all selection processes within the Faculty. For each undergraduate course, a Selection Panel has responsibility for student selection.

  3. The Faculty is a participant in the Victorian Tertiary Admissions Centre (VTAC) system for processing applications to tertiary courses, and must observe VTAC system rules.
  4. Each course must have selection criteria and prerequisites published in the relevant VTAC guides, VICTER and Faculty promotional material, The prerequisites should be in accordance with the four sets of course prerequisites approved by the Faculty Development Committee at its meeting on 18 November 1999:
    1. English only (at prescribed grade level); or
    2. English (at prescribed grade level); plus one of Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Physical Education, Mathematics (any); or

  6. A complaint or appeal concerning any decision of a Selection Panel should be referred to the Selection Officer for the course in the first instance who should review such decision in consultation with the Selection Panel, Head of School, and Academic Services Manager. The appeal if necessary should then be referred to the Dean and the University’s Ombudsman.

The Scheme awards bonus points for criteria such as being an Indigenous Australian, remoteness and geographic isolation in schooling, attending a school that qualifies under the regional bonus scheme, fluency in a language other than English and/or middle band factors (e.g. relevant work experience).
