7.3 QAU Scheme: Timelines for review
At the Faculty Development Committee on 9 March 2000, it was agreed that first year units would be evaluated at least biannually. On 1 July 1999, FDC agreed that units that faired badly in the previous year should be re-evaluated in the current year.
Therefore, the units to be evaluated in odd numbered years are:
- First year units;
- Second year units;
- Graduate Certificate/Postgraduate Diploma units;
- Any new or substantially revised unit;
- Any units from the previous year where at least 20% of the students answered negatively to the 'overall satisfaction' question;
- Any units from the previous year where the mean 'overall satisfaction' is relatively low (i.e. a score of less than or equal to 3);
- Any units from the previous year where three or more questions received a score of less than or equal to 3
The units to be evaluated in even numbered years are:
- Third year units;
- Fourth year units
- Masters by coursework units;
- Any new or substantially revised unit;
- Any units from the previous year where at least 20% of the students answered negatively to the ‘overall satisfaction’ question;
- Any units from the previous year where the mean ‘overall satisfaction’ is relatively low (i.e. a score of less than or equal to 3);
- Any units from the previous year where three or more questions received a score of less than or equal to 3
Should Schools, Departments or Centres wish to vary the above schedule, approval
must be sought from the Dean in writing.
The memorandum should:
- Request an exemption to the FDC agreed schedule;
- Explain the reason for requiring an exemption; and
- Outline the proposed units to be evaluated for that year and the following year.
