Many of the Faculty's coursework programs attract substantial interdisciplinary interest. Increased interdisciplinary study opportunities will be encouraged in future with a consequent increase in common core coursework and course articulation. A number of the coursework programs offered within the Faculty are structured to provide a clear pathway from graduate certificate to postgraduate diploma level studies to Masters by coursework. Some postgraduate diploma level programs in the Faculty have developed strong research components, making it possible to develop clear pathways from postgraduate diploma studies to research degree study. Progression is subject to academic performance at the required level. Postgraduate diploma courses in the Faculty which are structurally integrated with a Masters by coursework program may be described as a Masters by coursework Part 1. The second half of the Masters program will be a Masters by coursework Part 2. Some graduate certificate courses also articulate with postgraduate diploma programs. Graduate certificates provide health professionals, in particular, with the opportunity to undertake graduate level studies over a relatively short period, but with the opportunity to apply to proceed to further studies in their chosen field.
